Inspired by a summer hike along the Blue Lake Trail in Roosevelt National Forest near Rand, Colorado, this painting is a memory of the cool, quiet beauty of an alpine lake tucked among the mountains. 

This 10.5 mile hike led through burn scar and aspen forests, colorful wildflower meadows, and streams. After miles of hiking in the hot Colorado sun, reaching Blue Lake felt like a treat. The blue green water surrounded by olive-green, grassy, pine-covered peaks inviting us to sit on the rocks, eat lunch, and take a refreshing alpine swim.
