Welcome to the inside of my mind.
As I watch so many people struggle with their mental health, myself included, I painted this piece expressively, letting go of realism. I leaned into big, uncomfortable, squiggly, unpredictable brush strokes.
This night I was on a friend’s boat on Chatfield Reservoir in Denver, Colorado. A dramatic sunset lit the sky in yellow and orange while massive, ominous clouds rolled in. Raindrops began to fall, and we welcomed them as smoke billowed from a nearby wildfire.
